It feels ages ago that I graduated from Monmouth College already, although it has only been months. In my time at Monmouth, I went through many seasons and had many different plans and desires for my life.
A month or two into my first semester my freshman year, I went to my first Ignite meeting, which happened to be a BBQ where, unknowingly, I would meet some of my best and lifelong friends. It was also unknown to me at the time that joining this group would set the path to my future.
When I came into college, I had aspirations to become an engineer and have a background in law. Truthfully, I wanted to make money upon graduation. Although it took a year and a half in college, God finally pulled my heart towards ministry.
While in college, I was able to grow with God, many thanks towards Ignite and experiences I gained with it. Through Ignite, I had the privilege to serve twice in the Czech Republic, working with the youth there. Through the two weeks both times, the teams I were with and I organized several workshops, as well as a week-long retreat. I learned much from Ignite and was molded through it.
Now graduated, I am working with Stella’s Voice, an organization that prevents orphaned youth in Moldova from being human-trafficked. Through Stella’s Voice, boys and girls from around sixteen years of age to early twenties are given the opportunity to live together as brothers and sisters and to learn about God. These children are shown that they are loved in a way that they have never known before and have endless possibilities with their lives, opposite of what they would have if they had been sold into slavery.
With Stella’s Voice, I am living in Scotland, for at least the next year, if not longer. I am working here to build a bible school that many of the youth from Moldova will attend. There are many things to be done and I am blessed to be a servant in whatever needs to be done here.
I am thankful for the opportunities God has given me and I am thankful for the time I had with Ignite in Monmouth. Without God’s direction through Ignite and within my college experience, I would not be where I am today.
